You are not allowed to enter the tulip fields during the routes. If one does walk through the fields it can cause damage to the flowers and bulbs. In addition, the tulip fields are on private property.

But in Zeewolde lies Tulip Island. The peninsula, shaped like a tulip, is a real eye-catcher. The main island, the calyx, is the size of a soccer field, while the elongated islands of nature form the stem of the tulip. A solid 200-meter breakwater connects the island to the mainland. To celebrate Zeewolde’s 40th anniversary, the Tulip Island off the coast at Wolderwijd was brightened with thousands of flower bulbs.

Although Tulip Island is not along the usual tulip route, it is definitely worth a visit. It is the hot spot for taking a colorful photo.
