Invitation Forum meeting “Can the tulip remain part of the Flevoland landscape?”

Wednesday afternoon, May 28, at the Aeres Hogeschool in Dronten from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The bulb industry has been making regular headlines lately. Fortunately recently also because the colors that the tulips bring to the landscape in April/May attract a large number of tourists. But its image is also under pressure because of reports about the cultivation methods and their impact on the environment and also increasingly on the health of citizens.

In search of the connection between sector and society, we are organizing a forum in which we will discuss the possibilities of the bulb sector in the future, with the help of several speakers.

Program
An introduction will be provided by Herman Vermeer. Agricultural entrepreneur and chairman of the Foundation Tulip Route Flevoland. The forum will be led by Jaap-Jan Zwanenburg, Docent arable farming Aeres Dronten.

The following people will participate in the forum:

Erik Arts – bulb sector specialist at Countus
Erik will is a trade specialist at Countus. He will quantitatively explain the importance of the bulb sector in Flevoland.

Gerbrand Schilder – bulb sector specialist Agrifirm
Gerbrand works at Agrifirm as a bulb cultivation specialist. He will take us through the cultivation technique and the threats but also the opportunities that can be expected for the sector.

Rick Klink – Bulb Grower in South Flevoland
Rick Klink owns a bulb farm with his father. Rick will explain the challenges he faces in leading his bulb farm into the future.

Stef van Vilsteren – Board member KAVB
Stef is a board member of the KAVB in Flevoland and is also active in the practical network flower bulb cultivation Flevoland. In this capacity, he is active in holding the “license to produce” for the bulb sector in Flevoland.

The forum members will give a short introduction after which the position and perspectives of the tulip in Flevoland will be sought on the basis of reactions and questions from those present. The starting point is to find the connection between the bulb sector and the citizens/social environment.
